BÁRBARA

“Learning thrives where curiosity and joy are allowed to lead the way.”

Name / Spitzname:

Barbara, Babi or Barbie

How would your friends and family describe your personality?

That I’m talkative, funny and extroverted.

How do you encourage creativity and learning in the children you care for?

To encourage creativity and learning, I focus on building a supportive environment where trying is what matters most. I teach children that mistakes are a natural and positive part of learning. When they know they are allowed to make mistakes and still be supported, their curiosity naturally takes over and their creativity flourishes.

What made you want to join NannyKa?

What drew me to NannyKa is the incredible diversity and plurality of women on the team. It feels like an inclusive and international environment, which is important to me as an immigrant. I love the idea of growing alongside such a supportive and global community.

What do you love most about working with children?

What I love most is how genuine and funny children are, combined with how rewarding it is to watch them grow. Being a part of their learning process and helping them explore the world is truly special to me.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

Spend time with my cats, read or watch something with my boyfriend.

How do you comfort a child who is sad or upset?

I think it’s essential to make children feel heard and to let them know that their feelings truly matter. When a child is sad or upset, my first step is to create a safe, comforting space where they feel comfortable talking about what they’re experiencing. I listen actively, validate their emotions instead of dismissing them, and help them process what they’re feeling at their own pace.
